“Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him” Join us this advent in vespers (evening) prayer and prepare your heart for Jesus’s coming.

Writing Christmas cards for people in immigration detention

5.30pm-6pm Tue 2 Dec, in the chaplaincy

In the UK, immigration detention involves being locked up in prison-like conditions without time limit. The decision to detain is made by a civil servant and doesn’t go before a judge. Anyone subject to immigration control can be detained, and many people in detention came here to seek safety. Show your solidarity and support with people seeking sanctuary.

Christmas Carols by Candlelight

Join us this year for a festive Christmas Carols by candlelight concert. We’ll be also raising donations for Olympias Music foundation. Olympias Music Foundation is a charity based just down the road in Longsight. Their mission is to help children and families experiencing low income to flourish in all aspects of life, through free, exceptional music education. This Christmas, we are supporting Olympias to raise funds for another year of life-changing lessons, cultural opportunities, and all the joy, confidence and friendship that comes from a musical life.

Advent Week of Guided Prayer

Enter into a pattern of prayer and discernment that is lived out in your daily life. Participants are invited to:

• Pray daily for 30 - 40 mins

• Pray the Examen

• Meet a prayer guide.

• Reduce outer ‘noise’ in order to listen more attentively.

• Be part of a praying community.

Silent Advent retreat for young adults

Silence is very hard to come by and very counter cultural. Switch off and unplug for the weekend, and immerse yourself in an Ignatian silent retreat, with guided times of prayer as well as opportunity to rest, walk and reflect.
Deepen your prayer, wait for God in this season of Advent. Be attentive and still.
The retreat will be an individually guided silent retreat with time for personal prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
