Pilgrims have walked to the shrine of St James for centuries. The walk is very popular during the summer and there are plenty of places to stay. It takes about a month to complete, or can be completed in stages over a number of years. The walk requires a good level of fitness. Many people find it to be a life changing experience…
We are delighted to be returning to the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham with a special celebration for the Pilgrims of Hope Year of Jubilee. This annual pilgrimage is a real highlight in our diocesan calendar, welcoming hundreds of pilgrims from across the diocese to join in this prayerful experience. This year’s pilgrimage will take place on Saturday 3rd May, with the option to extend your visit by staying overnight on Friday 2nd May. The cost is £45pp (with a £20pp deposit). Prices for overnight stay are from £143-£159 (£70pp deposit) and includes an evening meal, bed and breakfast, and packed lunch for Saturday.
We are delighted to announce a number of pilgrimage opportunities in celebration of the 2025 Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee. Pope Francis has designated 2025 as a Year of Jubilee, inviting people across the whole Church to celebrate at a local level, as well as coming together as one universal family. At the heart of this uplifting celebration is the theme of pilgrimage – a quest to discover and leave behind all that separates us from God in the hope of finding renewed fulfilment, peace, and joy. As such, our Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee Coordination Team are delighted to offer a range of pilgrimages at home and overseas. More about the Jubilee year read in diocesan booklet.
